Montreal Fashion Week – Day 1 – Tavan & Mitto
I was so excited to go see Tavan & Mitto’s first runway show in 9 years at Marché Bonsecours and they didn’t let me down. I loved it.
The Fall-Winter 2012-13 collection is impressive. When you imagine yourself wearing most of the outfits going down the runway, then you know it’s good. The colours were inspiring; midnight blue, dark yellow, off white – so delightfully paired together and alone, such a fashion statement. Borrowing a bit from the 1950′s esthetic, big pretty mid-calf skirts were mixed with light and delicate blouses in sand colour and white. Strong tailored long-coats and capes in wool or fedora gave the tone to the Fall weather while dark rose/copper sequins was turned into a cocktail dress, clutch and two pieces women-suit.
The last number was my favorite, a gorgeous dark blue dress pleated on the chest, (first picture in this post) running light and a bit transparent down on the legs, stopping just under the knee. Simple, yet well executed: timeless.
What also made me wow! – 3/4 loose pants and a 1920′s inspired dress.
Finally, I felt the fur pieces were not as strong when you looked at the entire collection.
Long (Love) live Tavan & Mitto!
